Solar Grid Connections
The IDD team can help you with:
- Design & installation of PV Grid Connect Systems
- Solar maintenance & cleaning
- Solar inspections as recommended by CBOS
- Solar upgrades to existing systems
Benefits of a Solar Grid Connection
Your home can draw electricity from the grid when your solar panels aren’t generating enough electricity. If you produce more electricity than your house needs at the time, the excess will be fed into the mains grid with a feed-in tariff paid to the owner of the system.
Any power used during the day while it is being generated won’t cost you anything.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Keeping your solar system clean and regularly serviced will help you make sure everything is operating safely, correctly and efficiently.
Over time dust, debris and grime will build up on your solar panels which can reduce your system’s output by reducing the surface area for sunlight to reach. Additionally, water and moisture seepage, vermin, hail, wind and sunlight can all cause damage and problems to your system. Regular maintenance will ensure that your system stays safe and effective, letting you maximise your savings.
Regular maintenance of your solar panel system should include checking:
- solar panels are clean, secure and free of defects
- no parts have deteriorated/corroded
- vents are free of debris
- switches do not have any defects
- wiring has not been damaged/has not deteriorated
- electrical checks to ensure all components are operating as intended
- confirming fittings and cables are securely attached
- reviewing the inverter display panel for recorded faults
- checking that access to the isolator switches has not been impeded, and/or
- making sure the emergency procedures for shutdown and isolation are clearly displayed.
